I strongly believe and advise that watching the movie instead of reading the book is disappointing. Everyone should read the book first then maybe watch the movie afterwards. I agree that the movies are only major snippets of the full story, reading the whole book gives you the full experience.
Personally, I strongly think that the book is, most, if not all the time, better than the movie.
Firstly, in my opinion there are people constantly thinking ‘Oh, I’ll just watch the movie instead of reading the book’ I believe that they obviously don’t know what they’re throwing away and missing out on. Essentially if there were no books then go ahead watch the movie but there are books in this world and my given opinion is that people should read the book first then if they want to they can watch the movie afterwards. Furthermore, reading the book (as said before) gives you the entire story and the movie only gives you the major parts. I believe that this part of a quote by Edward P. Morgan is absolutely true: ‘A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face.’
Reviewers said that a book or a movie is not, in and of itself, bad. But the idea that somehow a movie is always better robs someone’s opportunity to help create the world of the story. Creativity is always worth building because creativity is what makes our world a more interesting place. This I certainly believe.
Secondly, it is quite true that when you watch the movie your imagination is limited. Reading the book you get to make the most of your creativity and picture everything as you think it should be. ‘Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.’ This quote by Jamie Paolinetti in my belief is full of clarity and it is no doubt very significant to those who use their imagination freely. ‘Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.’ It stands to my personal reason that this quote by Albert Einstein is true in most scenarios especially when creativity can be used at best.
Thirdly, it is undoubtedly true that reading can make you smarter. From my experience reading the book is more productive than watching the movie. You can be a better speller with doing something other than practicing how to spell the word over and over again. When you read you absorb the words and the story fully. Many people are under the impression that you cannot absorb new ideas; improve vocabulary or writing unless you read and that spelling is an often-neglected but important skill that reflects on you as a person. People who read for fun are usually better at it, and being a good reader can open up a whole new world of opportunities for you; stimulating your imagination and widening your vocabulary. It is in my opinion safe to say that reading can certainly make you smarter and I am glad that it can.
To conclude, I truly believe that someone who thinks that they’ll just watch the movie should give the book a try at least first. I’m sure they’ll be surprised. To get the truth clarified it is in my belief that more people should constantly read the book first and make the most of what their imagination can do. It is my opinion that reading opens your mind to a world of new ideas you would not otherwise explore… this is why I believe it is much better to read the book first than watch the movie.
